Xanax is not something that is tested for unless they are looking for it specifically.

Determining exactly how long Xanax is detectable in the body depends on many variables, including which drug test is being used. Xanax – also known as Benzodiazepine – can be detected for a shorter time with some tests, but can be “visible” for up to three months in other tests.

The timetable for detecting Xanax in the system is dependent upon each individual’s metabolism, body mass, age, hydration level, physical activity, health conditions and other factors, making it almost impossible to determine an exact time Xanax will show up on a drug test

Extended Drug Test-

Barbiturates (phenobarbital, butalbital, secobarbital)
Benzodiazepines (tranquilizers like Valium, Librium, Xanax)
Ethanol (ethyl alcohol, booze)
Hallucinogens (LSD, mushrooms, mescaline, peyote)
Inhalants (paint, glue, hair spray)
Anabolic Steroids (synthesized, muscle-building hormones)
Tryptamines (Psilocybin, AMT, DMT, DPT, 5-MeO-DiPT)
Phenethylamines (Mescaline, MDMA, MDA, MDE, 2C-B, 2C-T-7)
Inhalants’ (Toluene, Xylene, Benzene)

Xanax is a Rx medication that’s prescribed for anxiety and even if you’re being drug tested for work, a Rx med isn’t generally considered against the rules (unless you’re in a job where you are operating heavy machinery, etc.). There are some professions (bus drivers, pilots, engineers, etc.) where it isn’t acceptable for associates or employees to be on any similar medications, as one of the side effects (for some/most people) would be slow reaction time, drowsiness, dizziness, forgetfulness, etc.

If you’re in a situation where you are point-blank not allowed to have ANY substance in your body then it’s necessary for you to do whatever it takes to get to a physician and have a valid Rx written for Xanax prior to the test. Xanax is not considered a “controlled substance” and therefore shouldn’t be considered a problem (as long as it has been prescribed for you personally and you can prove that via Dr’s Rx). If this testing is court-appointed, associated with a drug/alcohol treatment center, rehab, or similar; all the more reason to get a Dr’s Rx for Xanax vs. lying about taking it.

Xanax will stay in the system
Urine Test: 1-6 wks.
Blood Test: 6-48 hrs.`
Saliva Test: 1-10 days

Xanax can be detected with a hair follicle drug test for up to 90 days

7-10 days from a single use, and up to 30 days from regular (daily) usage. Yes it’s detectable in urine and hair, but it’s not always tested for, specifically, on a routine drug test. Benzodiazepines (e.g., Ativan, Halcion, Librium, Rohypnol, Valium; Roofies, Tranks, Xanax) will be detectable on a basic urine drug test for at least a week. It may be difficult for a drug test to be specific about a certain drug if the person has a few different Rx meds (even over-the-counter meds) in their system at the time of testing. Informing the clinic tech that one is taking a Rx med and naming it would be the best bet vs. trying to hide it. Xanax has a half-life of approximately 11-12 hours with its peak approximately 2 hours after being consumed. Depending on the variables above ( ^ ) you’re looking anywhere from 5 days-6 weeks of having this detected.
