..Hi Marie, If it is at all possible, you can take him to a Narcotics or Alcoholics Anonymous meeting..You will be quite surprised at just how many professional people go to them and of course this is all anonymous, and very confidential/private..You will usually not find a counsellor who in the beginning will disclose this personal issue to anyone, but they will as the counselling sessions proceed, especially if it will benefit their client..Most all rehabs and/or detoxes will have workers that are recovered addicts, but again they never go around telling others about this of course..I would not be to concerned at whether they are a counsellor or not either..Most recovered mature addicts who have been clean/sober for a few years have as much and many even more, experience in dealing with people who are trying to quit such as your friend..At most all meetings, you can/will find someone willing to help, or you can also just call their Hot-line and speak with someone..They will always send out to visit, someone who is evenly the same as your friend is, in terms of where they have been and where drugs took them in their life..I wish you much success and I commend you on helping your friend..This is not an easy journey for either of you..Do take care…
